Collections tell the story
The collections of the Craft Museum of Finland tell about the history and present of Finnish crafts, craftsmanship and related phenomena.

40 years in Jyväskylä
The Craft Museum of Finland was launched in Jyväskylä on 10.6.1983. The museum's collections contain memories of exhibitions, exhibition openings, work demonstrations, lectures and events as well as pictures of everyday work from the first years of operation in Central Finland.

First craft collections
The museum's first acquisitions represent "valid and high-quality craft products from all sectors and all parts of Finland", as well as "foreign craft products of such quality that they can be used as models for handicrafts in Finland". The appropriations for the craft museum were received by order of the Imperial Senate on 14 December 1888.

Model Costumes of The National Costume Center of Finland
The National Costume Center of Finland has a large collection of model costumes containing more than 1,000 individual items, some of which are catalogued. The information on women's national costumes now published is based on research material generated in connection with costume revisions and the compilation of new costume models.

The Collections Map

The collections map will gradually be updated with information on the museum's collections, organised by sub-collection. These collections often cannot yet be browsed in Finna. The service, run by the TAKO network of museums, is a tool for museums to outline and present the content and priorities of their own collections.
