Collections tell the story
The collections of the Craft Museum of Finland tell about the history and present of Finnish crafts, craftsmanship and related phenomena.
The hat is the main thing!
In the winter drizzle, it's a good idea to protect your head with a hat. Examples of different types of handmade headgear can be found in the collections of the Craft Museum of Finland. Here are some winter hats made from felt, knitwear and fur.
Does the shoemaker have shoes?
Awareness of responsible consumption has raised the profile of traditional crafts such as shoemaking. The museum's collections include information on the makers of footwear and examples of different types of shoes. The manufacturing process has been documented through photography and video.
Textile samples of the Finnish General Crafts Association
The textile samples of the Finnish General Crafts Association (Founded in 1893) tell the story of the history of domestic industry. The association produced high-quality fabrics, pattern drawings and weaving instructions for sale in its shop, based on these quilts collected in the first decades of the 20th century.
The collections of the Craft Museum of Finland contain objects, photographs, audiovisual material and archival material related to the phenomena of crafts and craftsmanship. The collections include material from craft enterprises and associations, as well as from private craftsmen and craftswomen. The collection also includes photographs from the museum's own exhibitions and events. Only a small part of the museum's collections has been published in Finna.
The images published by the Museum in Finna are suitable for online use and are available free of charge for non-commercial purposes. Please remember to indicate the source (Suomen käsityön museo/skm.finna.fi) and the name of the photographer, if known. If you would like to purchase a print-quality image, cannot find what you are looking for or have any other questions, please send a message via the feedback link or contact the museum's information service at: firstname.lastname@example.org

Craft Museum of Finland
The Craft Museum of Finland, the Conservation Center and the National Costume Center of Finland form a national museum responsible for the crafts sector, whose mission is to record, preserve and disseminate Finnish craft culture and related phenomena, the history and tradition of crafts, and knowledge and skills.
Craft Stories and Memories
The Craft Museum of Finland records various stories, memories and experiences of handicrafts. The memories complement the museum's collections and tell the story of everyday craftsmanship. You can share your own memories with us or check out the stories already on the website.
The Collections Map
The collections map will gradually be updated with information on the museum's collections, organised by sub-collection. These collections often cannot yet be browsed in Finna. The service, run by the TAKO network of museums, is a tool for museums to outline and present the content and priorities of their own collections.
